About this file
This document provides a synopsis of a proposed contract modification for continued radiological and non-radiological laundry services at the Hanford Site. The Department of Energy's Richland Operations Office intends to issue a single source modification to the existing contract with Unitech Services Group Inc. to add three additional contract line items representing a six-month period of performance extension and two six-month options. The proposed contract ceiling increase of $2.5 million would allow laundry services, which support cleanup operations by other Hanford site contractors, to continue uninterrupted. The current contract ceiling is insufficient for the contractor to maintain full operations. The synopsis is being issued as required by FAR Part 5.2 and will be posted until March 20th, 2024. Interested vendors should contact the contracting officer with their business information and a one page capacity statement by that date. The laundry services required include wet wash processing of regulated radiological protective clothing and nonregulated items, as well as cleaning of respirator face pieces, using commercial nuclear laundry practices at the Hanford Site in Richland, Washington for the Department of Energy and its contractors.

Synopsis of Proposed Contract Action

The Office of Environmental Management’s Richland Operations Office, located at 2440 Stevens Center Place Richland WA, 99354, intends to issue a single source modification to add three additional contract line items numbered (CLIN) 00005/00006/00007 to DE-EM0002866/89303918FEM400008, for continued radiological/non-radiological laundry services with Unitech Services Group Inc, a large business at the Hanford Site. The proposed CLIN addition would represent 1 six-month period of performance extension and 2 six-month options.
Primary Product/Service Code:
S209 Housekeeping-Laundry/Drycleaning
NAICS Code:
812332 Industrial Launderers
The proposed contract ceiling increase of $2.5 million allows Hanford site radiological/non-radiological laundry services, which support the cleanup operations being conducted by the other Hanford site contractors, to continue uninterrupted. the current Unitech CLIN ceiling is insufficient to enable the contractor to continue full operation. If the contract ceiling and subsequent periods of performance, do not occur, it could require the Department of Energy to suspend major mission support under the Unitech laundry contract work activities until a new or substantially modified contract is put in place. This will adversely impact the Department of Energy’s ability to support the other Hanford contractors to meet the mission requirements of the Tri-Party Agreement. The two options are necessary as the DOE is unsure of the time needed to accomplish the award of a new or substantially modified contract and allows time to address potential risks, such as competition and pricing concerns.
This synopsis is issued as required per FAR Part 5.2 on the proposed contract action and will be posted until Wednesday March 20th, 2024. An Interested Vendor List is being included with this notice or you may contact Brenda Valadez, Contracting Officer, via email at brenda.valadez@rl.gov with an email titled “Interest in Synopsis.” Please provide your business name, UIC, address, and a short (1 page) capacity statement.
