24-099 Questions and Answers

Low Voltage Communication Cabling and Electrical Components/Conduits Demolition and Installation Services at the Lincoln Park DMV Field Office

Q1.

Since we are a C-7 Licensed Contractor we will be using our Electrical Contractor Partner that has the C-10 License as a Sub-Contractor, will this be acceptable?

We have done this for other state agencies low voltage projects, which required electrical work. Especially when the electrical work involved the installation of one additional new electrical panel and one additional new transformer. If you need the information for the agency where we did the install, I can provide that for you, as well as the information of our electrical partner.

A1. Refer to IFB, Bidder Requirements and Information, Item 2, A. Bidders Qualification.

Q2. The cement pad where the transformer will need to sit on just outside of the electrical room, can we use a prefabricated cement pad?

A2. No, please see the plan diagrams specifications. See the structural addendum #2.

Exhibit H, New Drawings: A0, A1, A2, E121 and E501.

Q3.

Behind the electrical room where the new transformer is going to be located, it looks like there may be a water pipe feed, as well as some other electrical wires.

So not to obstruct what is currently located underground where the new pad is going to be located, would it be possible to move the location of the transformer to the left of the electrical room in from of the window?

A3. Yes, see the structural and electrical addendum #2 Exhibit H, New Drawings: A0, A1, A2, E121 and E501.

Q4.

The existing voice & data cables that need to be removed from the workstations, will have to be removed all the way back from the terminated patch panel, is that correct?

A4. Yes.

Q5.

The surface mounted raceways that need to be removed from the wall, will leave an ugly spot on the wall. At the job walk it was mentioned that the ugly spot at those locations would be taken care of by others, is that still, correct?

A5. Yes. However, removal should be done with utmost care to minimize the required work to repair.

Q6. Can steel hatches be installed in the hard lid areas, as well as in the ceiling area with the small ceiling tiles, in case the tiles themselves get damaged?

A6. No.

Q7.

The existing MSF Furniture that needs to be disassembled and removed, would we be able to disconnect the existing electrical, and remove the existing voice and data prior to the removal of the MSF work stations? Or will we be required to be on site when the MSF workstations are being disassembled?

A7. Yes, per the current schedule we will demolition the night before the MSF is demolished. However, the schedule is subject to change based on project needs.

Q8. Even though this is a single-story building, and the feed and return for the HVAC are ducted, will we need to use a Plenum Rated Cat.6 Cable?

A8. Yes

Q9.

Looking at the plans and the actual location for the transformer pad located just outside of the electrical room. There are (2) floor boxes one with water valve and a second-floor box that appears to be landscape control cables. Is there a option of moving the transformer 4’ to 6’ to the south of the planter? To clear the (2) boxes on the location of the planter.

A9. There is an option to move transformer, but please see the structural and electrical addendum #2, Exhibit H, New Drawings A0, A1, A2, E121 and E501.

Sincerely, CINDY HUYNH
