About this file
This is an electrical specifications work write-up prepared by the City of Jackson Community Development Department for repairs to a residential property located at 237 N Gorham Street, Jackson, Michigan. The project, titled "E02 - Electrical to Code," requires the electrical contractor to correct all existing code violations and hazardous electrical conditions in accordance with the Housing Code and Electrical Regulations, as well as the Michigan Residential Code (MRC) 2015. The scope of work includes 12 specific tasks: installation of hardwired smoke and carbon monoxide detectors with interconnect capability in the basement; dedicated circuits for furnace and AC unit, water heater, kitchen (two 20-amp circuits), and bathroom (20-amp circuit); removal and replacement of knob and tube wiring; basement electrical upgrades including removal of unused wiring, installation of four service lights, and GFCI outlets; installation of exterior tamper-resistant/weather-resistant GFCI receptacles; and attic wiring upgrades. The specification document indicates that a permit is required for this work, and the electrical contractor must coordinate with other trades as needed. The work write-up was prepared on June 11, 2026, for homeowner Stefanie Amburgey, with all work to be completed in a professional manner and in compliance with applicable codes.
The bid includes a fixture allowance of $500.00, with pricing for the complete electrical work to code to be submitted by the contractor. The electrical contractor is responsible for all wall and ceiling repairs resulting from wire installation, with repairs to be finished smooth, sanded, and ready for paint (owner responsible for final painting). The contractor must perform daily cleanup and obtain all required permits prior to work commencement. Per the City of Jackson's bidding requirements, all participants must have completed SAM.gov registration, possess proper licensing credentials, and demonstrate capacity to obtain required permits. The project is awarded to the qualified lowest bidder, and the work write-up must be executed by both the homeowner and contractor before construction begins, with any changes to the scope requiring a change order executed by the Rehabilitation Specialist.
