About this file

This document is an Addendum to Request for Proposal (RFP) Item #23-149 for Ambulance Coding, Billing and Collection Services for the Augusta, Georgia - Fire Department. The RFP opening date has been changed from November 21, 2023 to November 28, 2023. The addendum provides responses to vendor questions, including details on the current outsourced billing vendor, electronic patient care reporting system, transport volumes and payor mix, current charges, and invoicing practices. The successful vendor will be responsible for providing ambulance coding, billing, and collection services, but will not be financially responsible for the current electronic patient care reporting system.

Regarding pricing, the current vendor is charging a 5.75% fee. The department's net charges for the most recent fiscal year were $934,478.85, with total collections of $325,791.33 and an average revenue per transport of $256.33. The department is open to electronic alternatives for providing HIPAA Notices of Privacy Practices to patients, and does not anticipate an increase in transport numbers over the first two years of the contract. The RFP is not due to a system conversion, and the selected contractor will be responsible for interfacing with the department's current system.
