About this file
This document is an Addendum #1 issued by the Sidock Group, Inc. on behalf of the Michigan Army National Guard (MIANG) for the Camp Grayling Components Cleaning Building project. The addendum amends the original contract drawings and specifications dated September 9, 2023 and provides responses to pre-bid requests for interpretation and information. Key details include that this is a standalone facility without a full building automation system, the site has already been cleared, and the contractor will be responsible for plowing the road to the site during the winter. The project timeline indicates the design will be ready for bidding in mid-November.
Regarding pricing and procurement, the addendum states the contractor will be responsible for providing and installing the propane gas system pad and piping, while the customer (DMVA/MIANG) will arrange for the tank and fuel. The addendum also addresses a request for substitution on the insulated translucent panel system, which was found to be acceptable, as well as a request to use a different type of gate system, which was not found to be acceptable.

1. GENERAL
This Addendum is issued prior to the start of construction and amends the contract drawings and specifications dated September 9, 2023 for “Bids/Permits”.
Except as otherwise specifically mentioned, the general character of the work required by this Addendum shall be the same as originally specified, and all incidentals required in connection with the work hereinafter described shall be included even though not specifically mentioned.
Where an item is mentioned with no additional specifications given, reference shall be made to the original specifications.
2. RESPONSES TO PRE-BID REQUESTS FOR INTERPRETATION/INFORMATION.
A. You have control notes on the mechanical sheet but nothing saying if you want this building to have a full-on building automation system like other buildings on camp grayling nor is there any specs like other jobs listing qualified contractors for the automation or parts that are acceptable by the state of Michigan. what is your intent for this? you can do some of what you want with standalone equipment but not all the notes so is this building supposed to be automated by a true BMS system that is acceptable by the state and matches everything else they have. I am one of the qualified controls contractors approved by the state. No BMS. This is a standalone facility.
Provide controls for sequence of operation as described on the drawings.
B. Who furnishes oil interceptors outside? Confirm with the GC that you are providing bids to, who will be responsible for this.
C. There is no fixture schedule? Refer to project specification manual for plumbing fixtures.
D. Who furnishes trench drains? Confirm with the GC that you are providing bids to, who will be responsible for this.
Addendum #1 10/20/2023 21240 MATES CCB Page 2
E. Specs say natural gas, plans say LP? The site is served by LP, not natural gas. This is a typo, the reference to natural gas should be disregarded and LP provided for this project.
F. Is well pressure tank by well driller? Confirm with the GC that you are providing bids to, who will be responsible for this.
G. I am not finding any specs for HM Frames and Doors 081113. Did not print/missing from set.
See attached.
H. Who is responsible for the propane gas system? DMVA/MIANG will be the Customer.
Contractor will be responsible to provide and install the pad and piping, the Customer will arrange for the tank and fuel.
I. FE shows NIC in some locations and not in some locations. is this correct. Are the NIC items that are by others to be installed by the GC of this contract? It appears one location was missed being noted as NIC. Spec section 10440 calls for fire extinguishers to be NIC. They will not be provided or installed per this contract. They are by Owner.
J. Site has already been cleared. Will it also be grubbed/all stumps removed? Contractor can exclude site clearing from the bid. Clearing of the site is complete (by MIANG), but the site will need to be graded to the height specified in the drawings.
K. What is the timeline to have utilities run out to the Component Cleaning Building site? The design should be ready by mid-November at which time it can put out for bids.
L. Who plows road to CCB site during winter? The plowing of the road to CCB site is the contractor’s responsibility.
M. Does fill need to be trucked in? After the clearing and grubbing, we would hope the site would be balanced per the design. If fill is needed to be brought to the site, the contractor needs to make sure it is compactible according to the specifications.
N. Can we use crushed concrete under parking and roadway around building? Prefer crushed gravel (22A).
O. Who supplies the Propane at construction site? On other projects, the Contractor installed the pad and piping, the camp arranged for the tank and fuel.
P. Request for substitutions:
1) Please see attached approval request for ‘Major Industries’ regarding the Insulated Translucent Panel System section. Acceptable.
2) In lieu of a single-slide, 50ft cantilever gate, 7ft + barb wire as specified, would a ‘Pro- Access’ macro box frame slide gate per ASTM F1184, Type II, Class 1 w/ five 6-5/8 O.D.
posts (required), be acceptable?
Not acceptable. Provide and install 50ft heavy duty cantilever slide gate w/ barb wire as specified, similar to ‘Tymetal Fortress Heavy Duty Slide Gate’ (see attached information and spec) or Architect approved equal. Alternatively, (2) heavy duty, 25ft bi-parting cantilever slide gates w/ barb wire meeting the performance criteria specified in lieu of a single 50ft cantilever slide gate w/ barb wire would be an acceptable substitution.
