Memory Support (Healthcare Residents). AFRH also keeps medication on hand for emergencies for their independent population. This number can vary dramatically (10 to 50 per month) and will increase during flu season.

2. Who will be providing the medications dispensed to these patients?

a. DOD

b. Contractor Sourced Retail Pharmacy

c. Multiple Sources (Please Explain) Answer 2. B. Contractor Sourced Retail Pharmacy

3. If the medications are being provided via a contractor sourced retail pharmacy, will this be in response to a prescription written for each patient.

Answer 3. All medications for Healthcare

Residents are provided by the contractor.

Prescriptions are written by AFRH providers.

4. Who will dispense the medications to the patients?

Answer 4. AFRH nursing staff dispense medications.

5. Something that was outstanding is the fact that this is a DOD facility and the RFQ refers to

'State Registered' personnel. Usually licenses are accepted from any State when it is a Federal facility?

Answer 5. AFRH requires credentials of providers in the local area.

6. Who is responsible for supplying the medication which the patients will get?

(a) Is it the contractor who must source meds ?

Answer 6a. All medications for Healthcare

Who passes the meds? Is it a nurse, or, is a pharmacist expected to dispense medication?

Answer: AFRH nursing staff administer medications.

(b) ARE THE MEDS PROVIDED FROM THE DOD

THROUGH WALTER REED PHARMACY?

If this is so, it is assumed that there is an area dedicated to being a pharmacy!

Ensuing from this if this assumption prevails, who then is responsible for dispensing of medication?

Answer 6b. The AFRH Independent population receive medications from Walter Reed/VA/ or other medical facilities. AFRH does use the contractor to secure vaccinations and emergency prescriptions and over the counter medications.

AFRH has Pharmacy Technicians and Nurses who are able to distribute medications.

(c) IS IT through PHARMACY SOURCED by the CONTRACTOR? In such an instance, who will write the orders for this dispensing to be done?

Answer 6c. AFRH does not have a pharmacy, but a medical distribution room. This is where the AFRH staff distribute medications. The primary medications provided to the Residents will be for the upper level of care in which the medications are required to be individually wrapped/packaged for each resident.

7. What is meant by Facility RX or OTC vs House RX or OTC?

Answer 7. The facility RX and OTC are what is ordered through the contractor for the independent populations. The House RX & OTC are what AFRH keeps on inventory for emergency.

8. What is the amount of time consultant pharmacists usually spend reviewing charts? Is it as the DC law requests? (see question about State licensing above)

Answer 8. No available answer to this question.
