Addendum 2 - Carpet Replacement Project
This document is an addendum to the Melbourne Airport Authority's sealed bid solicitation for carpet and flooring replacement services at Melbourne Orlando International Airport in Florida. The project encompasses removal and disposal of existing carpet from the terminal concourse areas serving Gates 1-6, the sloped walkway at Gate 7, and adjacent areas extending past restrooms to the VIP lounge entrance and sterile area exit, followed by installation of charcoal-colored Obex Grid Millikin commercial carpet tile and vinyl or similar material in designated high-traffic zones. A mandatory site visit is scheduled for October 8 at 10:00 a.m. at the airport's 2nd Floor Conference Room, with sealed bids due by November 5, 2026. Contractor employees must maintain airport badging throughout the project duration, and work must be coordinated during both regular and night operating hours while maintaining passenger safety and minimizing operational disruptions.
Pricing must be submitted on a line-item basis covering materials, labor, carpet tile unit costs, installation hourly rates, and any additional repairs or equipment, with all delivery, training, and specification compliance costs included in the bid price. Bid prices must remain firm for 90 calendar days after bid closing. A 5% bid bond is required at submission, and the successful contractor must post a 100% performance bond prior to award. Contractors must maintain comprehensive general liability insurance of $2 million, auto liability of $2 million, workers' compensation per Florida statute, fire insurance of $1 million, and umbrella liability of $2 million. The Authority will award to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder, with preference in case of tie scores given to bidders with drug-free workplace programs, followed by local bidders within Melbourne city limits, then Brevard County bidders. Alternate carpet materials are permitted only if submitted during the questions-and-answers period (due October 15 at 5:00 p.m.) and approved via addendum; unapproved alternates render bids non-responsive.
