About this file
The document is a pre-application announcement from the Nevada Division of State Parks for the 2026 Federal Highway Administration's Recreational Trails Program (RTP) grant opportunity. The program is soliciting pre-applications from counties, municipalities, state and federal agencies, nonprofit organizations, and Native American tribal governments to fund construction, maintenance, and enhancement of motorized and non-motorized outdoor recreational trails, trailhead amenities, and trailside signage. Pre-applications are due on Monday, August 4, 2025, at 5 pm PST, with eligible applicants being invited to submit full applications in the fall and participate in an annual proposal presentation meeting in January 2026.
The RTP funding is limited to approximately $1.2 million per year, with fund allocation competitively determined by the RTP Advisory Committee and State Parks Administration. Previous projects have included trail construction in Washoe County, accessible trail access at Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument, wilderness trail maintenance, and motorized trail remediation. Applicants must submit pre-applications exclusively through the State Parks Online Grant Portal, with paper or email submissions being invalid. Interested parties can review RTP guidelines on the Nevada State Parks website and contact Elyse Jolly (Park & Recreation Program Manager) or Tamara O'Brien (Grants & Projects Analyst) for additional information or questions about the program.
