1.GENERAL INFORMATION
1.1 History
The Spokane Public Facilities District ("District") is requesting proposals from qualified and established entities that possess the skill and experience required to provide Facility Condition Assessment & Capital Project Planning Consulting Services for the Spokane Convention Center, First Interstate Center for the Arts, Spokane Arena, The Podium, and ONE Spokane Stadium ("Facilities"). The Facilities are owned and operated by the District.
The Spokane Convention Center (SCC) opened in 1974 and was extensively expanded and remodeled in 2006, 2007 and 2014. It includes over 100,000 sf of exhibit space, multiple ballrooms, meeting rooms, allowing the flexibility to host up to 40 breakout spaces, and a large parking garage. The SCC has achieved Global Biorisk Advisory Council® (GBAC) STAR™ accreditation, the gold standard for prepared facilities.
The First Interstate Center for the Arts (FICA) is a legacy from Spokane’s World Fair in 1974. The heart of this historic venue remains, but the look and feel has taken on a modern air with a $22.3 million renovation in 2018. The FICA has 2,622-seats and is adaptable for symphony concerts, ballet, grand opera, road shows, country and rock music spectaculars, musical stage productions, travelogues, conventions, and lectures.
The Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena opened in September of 1995. The Arena is home to the Spokane Chiefs of the Western Hockey League facility. Numerous other activities have taken place at the Spokane Arena including circuses, large conferences, monster truck shows, concerts and much more. We seat up to 11,736 and have up to 32,000 square feet (with all retractable seating sections retracted) and a concourse of 35,000 total square feet. The Arena also boasts 16 luxury suites!
The Podium is strategically positioned near Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena and Spokane Convention Center making Spokane a premier destination for a wide variety of combined events. The facility is 135,000 square feet including concessions, vendors, management, media, and medical training spaces.
With 75,000 square feet of competition space, The Podium has been designed with maximum flexibility in mind to accommodate a large variety of sports and events. With 3,000 permanent, 1,000 portable and 237 VIP seats, athletes and spectators alike will enjoy ample amenities on site all while being within walking distance to hotels, restaurants, and entertainment.
Promoted by the Downtown Spokane Partnership and the United Soccer League, Spokane Public Schools and the Spokane Public Facilities District have partnered to build and operate a new stadium in downtown Spokane next to the Spokane Arena and The Podium. The newly opened One Spokane Stadium is a 5,000 seat stand capacity and 10,000-12,000 seat stand & field capacity. This multi-use venue’s total annual economic impact for a downtown stadium is projected to be approximately $11.4 million in direct and indirect spending. Almost nine times the impact of other proposed stadium sites.
Additional information on each facility is provided in our facility information sheets.
