About this file

This is Addendum 1 to a sealed Invitation to Bid (ITB) issued by the Town of Stratford, Connecticut for acoustic improvements at Flood Middle School's cafeteria located at 490 Chapel Street. The project requires removal of approximately 460 existing wall-mounted acoustic panels adhered to CMU block, preparation and painting of all cafeteria walls, and installation of new acoustic panels consisting of 76 total panels (approximately 774 square feet) in varying sizes: 32 panels measuring 48" x 48", 14 panels measuring 48" x 24", 6 panels measuring 48" x 12", 4 panels measuring 36" x 36", 5 panels measuring 36" x 24", and 15 panels measuring 24" x 24". The RFI log dated May 20, 2026 addresses 28 questions submitted by contractors between May 15 and May 20, 2026, clarifying design intent, material substitutions, existing conditions, asbestos abatement protocols, and work requirements. The pre-bid site meeting occurred on May 12, 2026 at 4:15 PM, and the bid deadline is May 27, 2026 at 10:00 AM EDT with project award anticipated on or about June 9, 2026, mobilization beginning July 1, 2026, substantial completion targeted for August 21, 2026, and final closeout by September 30, 2026.

Key clarifications from the RFI log establish that panel layout is fixed and cannot be modified to accommodate larger panels, existing acoustic panels and adhesive must be completely removed and disposed of by the contractor, the Acoustimac Z-Clips are the basis of design with consideration given to equal products, dumpster staging will be provided on site, working hours are assumed to be 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM Monday through Friday with nights and weekends available upon request, the Owner will remove movable furniture and apply for building permits (with permit fees paid by the Owner), the contractor must provide temporary floor protection and is responsible for final cleaning to return spaces to original condition, and asbestos testing results will be included in a subsequent addendum. Contractors are responsible for their own quantity takeoffs, verification of existing substrate conditions, and compliance with OSHA safety guidelines; the solicitation requires physical bid submission with a 5% bid bond, prevailing wage rates apply if the bid exceeds $100,000, and a minimum one-year guarantee against defective material and workmanship is required.

1 Would it be okay to substitute larger panels while maintaining the same square footage of panels in the space? This would greatly cut down on installation labor.

5/15/2026 Snyder No. Panel layout was designed to accommodate existing wall conditions including conduit, fixtures, clocks, TV's, etc …

5/19/2026

2 Will asbestos abatement be required? 5/15/2026 Snyder Existing acoustic panels and adhesive to be removed are being tested and results will be included in subsequent Addendum.

5 If Z-clips are indicated for the wall-mounted acoustic panels, please confirm whether Rotofast mechanical fasteners would be acceptable as an alternate mounting method for the wall-mounted panels only. Since these panels are being installed in a gymnasium and may be impacted by balls, students, or normal gym activity, we recommend Rotofast fasteners to provide a more secure mechanical attachment and reduce the risk of panels becoming loose or dislodged over time. Product information can be reviewed here: https://rotofast.com. Please note that use of Rotofast fasteners may increase the material/product cost for the wall-mounted acoustic panel scope.

5/15/2026 Snyder The Acoustimac Z-Clips are the basis of design. Or equal products with same or better performance will be reviewed and considered as substitutes.

5/19/2026

Please also confirm whether any after-hours, weekend, or school-occupied building restrictions will apply during the work.

5/15/2026 Snyder 7:00 to 3:00 Monday to Friday working hours are assumed but nights and weekends are available if requested. It is assumed lifts and/or scaffolding is needed to complete project.

Contractor shall protect all existing conditions as needed during construction so as to not damage floors, etc ...

5/19/2026

9 If available, please provide current site condition photos of the gym wall and ceiling areas where the existing and new acoustic panels are located, including any areas that may affect substrate, access, staging, or installation.

5/15/2026 Snyder The pre-bid walk-thru was contractor opportunity to inspect and become familiar with existing conditions.

22 Spec 01310 Para 3.02 – is the contractor to provide the meeting space and furniture, or will a space in the existing school be utilized?

5/20/2026 Snyder Any onsite meetings will be casual and meeting furniture not necessary.

5/20/2026
