About this file
This is a survey instrument used by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) as part of the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS), a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) initiative designed to collect data on maternal experiences and behaviors related to pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum care. The survey gathers comprehensive information from mothers in Michigan regarding their pregnancies and newborns to inform public health efforts aimed at improving maternal and infant health outcomes.
The PRAMS survey is administered to mothers postpartum and collects data across multiple domains including pre-pregnancy health status, prenatal care experiences, insurance coverage, health conditions during pregnancy, substance use, domestic violence, delivery experiences, postpartum care, infant care practices, vaccination plans, environmental health concerns, and sociodemographic factors. Respondents may complete the survey by mail or participate via phone at the toll-free number 844-997-7267, with the survey estimated to take 25-31 minutes to complete. The data collected is voluntary and protected under the Privacy Act; respondents are assured that their information is confidential and will not affect any services they are currently receiving. Survey responses are used exclusively to support PRAMS program objectives focused on improving health outcomes for Michigan mothers and infants, with no commercial or competitive contracting elements present in this instrument.
