About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for Solicitation Number 2025-PZI-1534 for a Trailered Guard Booth at New Boston Space Force Station. The Q&A addresses several technical specifications for the guard booth, including structural and materials requirements. Key clarifications include: acceptance of a zinc-based primer for corrosion protection, integrated window design without a separate frame, preference for a half-lite window on a UL Level 4 door, fully welded steel armor walls, and approval of a mini-split HVAC system with ballistic protection for external components.

The Q&A also provides details about the generator shroud, confirming that only the sides need to be ballistic-rated while the top and bottom can use non-ballistic materials, and clarifies electrical specifications for the 3-wire, 12-pole electrical system. These technical exchanges indicate the government's flexibility in meeting the core requirements while ensuring critical performance standards are maintained for the portable, customizable guard booth intended for use by the Government Security Team and Security Guards at the installation.

2025-PZI-1534 Questions & Answers

1.

Q- 1.3.1.1: Calls out galvanized steel plate welded to galvanized steel tube frame. This will be a fully welded structure with a two-part paint system. We would plan to use Sherwin Williams Macropoxy Primer and Acrylic Polyurethane Topcoat. We do not have the ability to galvanize a booth in its entirety. Would you like for us to add a zinc-based primer under the epoxy primer to further protect this booth in a more extreme environment? (these three-coat systems are the gold standard for corrosion protection)

A- Utilizing process described and the zinc-based primer under the epoxy primer to further protect this booth would be considered acceptable to meet this requirement.

2.

Q- 1.3.1.2: Calls out a 16Ga. window frame. Our standard window design is integrated with the wall and does not have a separate frame. The edge of the ballistic steel acts as the frame around the window and the internal wall structure supports the glass. Do you want a separate frame for aesthetics or is our standard design acceptable?

A- Utilizing your standard design for integrated windows, as described, is acceptable.

3.

Q- 1.3.1.3: We are assuming the door is to be UL Level 4 as well. Is it to be a flush door with no windows? Or is a half lite window preferable?

A- Correct, door would need to be UL Level 4 and the “half lite window” is preferable.

4.

Q- 1.3.1.5: Calls out 16 Ga. Interior and exterior. Our walls are typically external, fully welded steel armor that is painted with internal 16 Ga. walls. Is this acceptable?

A- Your walls, as described, with fully welded steel armor that is painted with internal 16 Ga. walls is acceptable.

5.

Q- 1.3.1.8: Calls out a shrouded through the wall HVAC. Is a mini split system acceptable in leu of a through the wall unit and shroud?

A- A mini-split system is acceptable provided that any external components have ballistic protection at UL Level 4.

6.

Q- 1.3.1.9: Calls out 3 wire, 12 pole. Is the intention to be 3 wire, 2 pole (two hots and a neutral)?

A- Correct 3 wire, 12 pole or equivalent is acceptable.

7.

Q- 1.3.2: Calls out a fully shrouded and sound insulated generator. Does the shroud need to be ballistic rated on all sides, or can the top/bottom be non-ballistic materials?

A- The sides of the shroud need to be ballistic rated, but the top and bottom do not.
