About this file
This document is a Request for Proposals (RFP) issued by the Town of Breckenridge, Colorado for Architectural Services related to the Little Red School House (LRSH) expansion and remodel project. The RFP seeks an architectural firm experienced in educational architecture, specifically early learning and childcare facilities, to evaluate options for increasing the center's capacity. Key deliverables include rough schematic drawings of potential additional space or remodel layouts, cost estimates, progress meetings with town officials and building users, and a decision point for selecting the preferred design. The RFP was issued on June 5, 2025, with proposal questions due by June 23, 2025, and final proposal submissions due by July 11, 2025 at 3:00 PM.
The Little Red School House, constructed in 2003, currently operates as a Child Care Center and Preschool serving children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. As of May 2025, the facility has an enrollment of 75 children with an average daily attendance of 60-65. The town is exploring expansion options due to growing population and increasing demand for early childhood education in Summit County. Potential expansion strategies include increasing the building's overall square footage, repurposing the existing multipurpose room into a classroom, adding an additional multipurpose room, or constructing additional classrooms. The facility currently lacks sufficient administrative space and has limitations in playground and parking areas, which the proposed architectural services aim to address.
