About this file

This is a bid schedule for a tree planting project in Buchanan County, Virginia, managed by the Commonwealth of Virginia. The project involves planting trees on reclaimed abandoned mine lands located approximately three miles northwest of Hurley, Virginia, near the confluence of Knox Creek and Pawpaw Creek. The site is accessible from State Route 697 and features typical slopes of 2:1 with variable soil conditions ranging from shallow rocky soils to loose uncompacted material. The bid schedule includes two line items: Tree Planting Labor and Trees, each specified in bundles of 100 units with an approximate quantity of 39 bundles required for completion of the project.

Bidders must submit unit prices for both labor and tree materials, with the total bid price used to determine contract award value and performance and payment bond requirements. A bid bond is mandatory for all bids of $100,000 or more. Payment will be made based on actual units used and verified in the field. Bidders must enter firm unit prices; any bidder submitting a zero unit price or leaving the unit price blank will be deemed nonresponsive. The specification emphasizes the importance of accurate pricing and double-checking calculations before submission, noting that in cases of price extension errors, the unit price shall govern over the extended total.
