About this file

This is a presentation deck for a webinar about the USDA Forest Service Eastern Region's 2025 Cohesive Fire Strategy Request for Applications. The grant opportunity supports the National Cohesive Wildland Fire Management Strategy goals of restoring/maintaining landscapes and creating fire-adapted communities across Midwestern and Northeastern states.

The grant requires a 100% match of federal funds, with individual applications ranging from $25,000 to $300,000. Equipment costs are limited to 25% of federal funds requested. Eligible applicants include state forestry agencies, forest fire compacts, tribes, nonprofit organizations, academic institutions, and fire science exchanges. The application deadline is January 15, 2025, with submissions required through Grants.gov under opportunity number USDA-FS-2025-COHESIVE-STRATEGY. Projects must address Northeast Regional Action Plan options like prescribed fire use, ecosystem restoration, hazardous fuels treatment, and community fire adaptation. Applications are evaluated on a 100-point scale based on criteria including regional plan alignment (30 points), partnerships (20 points), underserved communities (10 points), project effectiveness (20 points), and wildfire risk focus (20 points).
