About this file

This document is Addendum 1 for Bid #2025-11PC for Geotechnical Soil Boring Services issued by Portage County, Wisconsin, dated 6/26/25. The addendum provides clarifications and answers to four specific questions from potential bidders regarding the geotechnical services project. The key points addressed include bidding expectations for optional borings, confirmation of building basement details, test pit classification requirements, and confirmation that materials and environmental testing are not part of the current proposal scope.

The addendum indicates that bidders should submit a base bid for required borings (lines 1-4) with mobilization costs, and a separate bid for all optional borings. The county anticipates executing the base bid and potentially all optional borings if cost-effective. They do not plan to selectively choose among optional borings. The document also clarifies that while the square footage of future buildings is unknown, the project involves geotechnical investigations for a new Sheriff's Office Law Enforcement and Detention Center. Proposals are not required to include pricing for materials or environmental testing, as those will be addressed in future bid packages.

2025-11PC Geotechnical Soil Boring Services

DATE: 6/26/25

The following changes are hereby added to and made part of Bid #2025-11PC.

Questions, Answers, Clarifications and Revisions:

Questions Q1: For the borings, would we assume to have one bid with none of the optional borings and one bid with ALL the optional borings? Would there be a possibility of some of the optional being done and some would not (or are we making it too complicated?)

Ans: Reviewing the Bid Offer Form in Attachment C you will see we want a bid for what we for sure need done. We then also want to know what the additional borings would cost. Most likely we will only do the borings requested on lines 1-4 plus cost of mobilization on line 5. However, if it appears cost effective, we will probably do all the additional boring listed under Alternates. We do not foresee picking and choosing from the alternates.

Q2: Do any of the buildings have a basement? Do you know the square footage of the future buildings(J & K)?

Ans: See 1.3.2 bullet #3 for basement. We do not know the Square Footage of the future buildings.

Q3: The test pits are for classification only, correct?

Ans: See 10.5 for information. In addition, test pit depth 5 ft classified according to USDA and WDNR technical standard 1002, signed by Soil Scientist for infiltration.

Q4: Should proposals include pricing for materials testing or environmental testing (phase 1 or phase 2)?

Ans: Proposals do not need to include pricing for either of the stated scopes above, if/when required they will be bid out in a future bid package.
