About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document containing six questions from industry and government responses regarding the Defense Automatic Addressing System (DAAS) Modernized Message and Transaction Processing RFI.

The key details reveal that DAAS processes 8-9 billion transactions annually and currently uses Oracle and AWS S3 for data storage. The government is seeking scalable solutions that can support event-triggered streaming and containerized services. While pricing models based on CPU/Core usage are acceptable, vendors are asked to provide comprehensive pricing details that account for containerized solutions and COOP considerations. The government is open to responses from both software vendors and system integrators, and is considering holding an industry day. RFI responses are due by 3:00 PM ET on January 7, 2025, and should be emailed to the specified DLA contracting officers with the subject line "Defense Automatic Addressing System (DAAS) Modernized Message and Transaction Processing RFI- [Company Name]."

#QuestionGovernment Response
1In section 14 of the Market Research section, there is a question regarding RoM pricing. We are happy to respond to this question, but need to get more insight into environment to offer RoM pricing. Are you open to share the approximate Core/CPU count of the server(s) where the software would be installed, in AWS Govcloud environment? That is how our ETL solution is priced, and we can offer licensing models and contracting vehicle options. The current Core/CPU usage may not be the same in the future modernized solution. Provide details on your pricing models to support the government’s ability to estimate license and services costs. If your model is based on CPU/Core, please do your best to approximate cost per CPU, bundled costs, considerations per other requirements described in the RFI such as models when deploying containerized solutions, COOP considerations, etc.
2What relational databases / cloud storage solutions is DAAS using for the audit, retention, and reporting requirements?"The current DAAS solution is using Oracle and AWS S3. DAAS is open to suggestions from industry on proposed solutions.
3From a volume perspective in GBs, how much data per hour would need to be written to these targets?DAAS is focused on supporting a scalable solution. The suggested solution needs to be able to adjust accordingly using cloud elasticity to respond to fluctuations in mission workload. DAAS processes 8-9 billion transactions per year of various size and complexity. DAAS does not measure volume of data by hour as it is dependent upon DoD mission requirements.
4What streaming technologies will selected ETL need to connect and integrate with?We are expecting the vendor to demonstrate their support for event triggered streaming, containerized services, etc
5Is the desired response direct from Software vendors, or 'turnkey' solution led by a System Integrator? We are open to all responses.
6Will the government consider an industry day?DAAS is considering an industry day and would provide additional details if we move forward with scheduling such an event.
