About this file

This document is an addendum to Request for Proposal (RFP) #2314 issued by the Darien Downtown Development Authority for dock improvements on the Darien River in Darien, Georgia, located in McIntosh County. The addendum provides updates to the proposal due date, material specifications for the fixed dock, floating docks, and gangways, as well as responses to questions received during the pre-proposal meeting. The fixed dock is to have an aluminum frame, Trex or similar composite decking, and aluminum or composite railings. The floating docks will also have an aluminum frame and Trex or similar composite decking. The gangways are to be 30 feet in length with aluminum construction and railings. The new proposal due date is April 19, 2024, at 10:30 AM.

The addendum clarifies that soil boring and wind test results are the responsibility of the contractor, and that neither of the 30-foot gangways are required to be ADA compliant. The addendum also provides guidance on piling placement and spacing, and notes that 3D drawings are intended as visual aids and not construction specifications. The RFP is a design-build project, and the contractor is responsible for providing the structural specifications.

3. Will soil boring and wind test results be provided?

a. Testing for the design of this project is the responsibility of the contractor and is not required unless the information needed is not known. Please note that boring test results (and possibly wind test results) for the proposed bridge project on SR25/US17 over Darien River are public records and may be acquired directly from GDOT.

4. Are there any dock specifications?

a. This is a design-build RFP therefore the structural specifications are the responsibility of the contractor. The material specifications are defined in the section above and in the revised RFP.

a. See Material Specifications above.

13. Do we need to submit shop drawings?

a. Shop drawings are considered an allowable submittal. Please see Scope section in the revised RFP for other options.

D. COMMENTS

1. Pilings must be placed within the decking, to avoid interfering with boat docking

2. Pile spacing is shown on the permit plans as 10’ and 20’ as a general guide but the spacing could be closer or further as needed as long as waterflow is not restricted.

3. 3D drawings are intended to be a visual aid and are not to be construction specifications.

E. CHANGES TO THE PROPOSAL SHEET TABLE – See page 19-20 of the attached Revised RFP
