About this file
This is an Invitation to Bid (ITB) document from the Town of Stratford, Connecticut, specifically for the Shellfish Commission, soliciting competitive bids for an oyster shell relocation and planting project in the Housatonic River. The procurement requires a qualified contractor to provide labor, materials, and equipment, with a specific requirement for a suction dredge boat to relocate approximately 50,000 bushels of oyster shell from Zone 1 (the mouth of the Housatonic River) to Zones 2 and 3. If the full quantity cannot be moved using the suction boat, the contractor must supply and plant additional wet shell in the designated zones. The bid solicitation period runs from May 11, 2022, to May 26, 2022, with a vendor Q&A period from May 11 to May 18, 2022. Contractors must demonstrate prior experience in furnishing and deploying oyster shell material.
The solicitation is open to all vendors, with no specific set-asides or restrictions mentioned. Payment terms are set at Net 30 days, and the contract will be awarded to a contractor who can meet the technical requirements of providing a suction dredge boat and successfully relocating and planting oyster shells. No incumbent vendors are identified, and the documentation does not provide a specific estimated total value or budget range for the project. The opportunity is geographically limited to the Housatonic River in Fairfield County, Connecticut, and pricing will be determined through the competitive bidding process. Interested vendors must submit their bids to Philip Ryan at the Town of Stratford by the specified deadline.
