About this file

This is a comprehensive project manual and bid document for the Chartiers Playground and Spray Park Construction Project (Project No. 2020-87007), issued by the City of Pittsburgh's Department of Public Works. The project involves constructing a new playground and spray park located at 3793 Chartiers Avenue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The project scope includes site demolition, earthwork, concrete and asphalt paving, boulder installations, site furnishings, landscape improvements, and installation of playground and spray park equipment. The landscape architectural design was prepared by Studio Bryan Hanes, with civil and structural engineering by Common Ground Engineers. The bid documents were released on November 30, 2021, with the project requiring selective site demolition, installation of playground protective surfacing, site improvements, and various site elements.

The project manual includes detailed technical specifications, product requirements, execution guidelines, and installation procedures across multiple divisions. The project will be competitively bid, with the City reserving the right to award the contract to the lowest responsible bidder and to accept or reject any or all bids. The City will provide certain equipment, including playground equipment, safety surfacing, and spray ground elements, while the selected contractor will be responsible for installation, site preparation, and coordinating delivery and installation. The project appears to be funded through municipal capital improvement resources, with specific budget details not explicitly disclosed in the document. Contractors will be required to provide performance bonds, meet specific quality assurance standards, and comply with local, state, and federal regulations throughout the construction process.
