About this file

This is a procurement order document for wooden sign posts issued by the Maine Department of Transportation (MDOT). The order specifies various sizes and quantities of rectangular timber sign posts to be delivered to five regional MDOT maintenance camps located in Scarborough, Augusta, Dixfield, Bangor, and Caribou, Maine. The total order comprises 1,905 individual pieces across ten item categories, ranging from 4"x4"x14' posts to 6"x6"x20' posts, with quantities varying by delivery location based on regional maintenance needs. The order consolidates requirements from the 2013 and 2016 procurement cycles into a single purchase request.

The wooden sign posts must be manufactured from Eastern Hemlock No. 2 or better, or Southern Yellow Pine No. 2 or better, treated to a retention level of 0.60 PCF using ACQ treatment with 0.40 inch penetration depth. All posts must be kiln or air dried before treatment, incised on all four sides, and dressed four sides (D4S). The timber must be straight and sound, cut from live growing native trees, and free from loose knots, shake, holes, and heart rot, with permitted tolerances of 1 inch in length and 1/4 inch in width or thickness. Pricing information is not populated in this order document, indicating that pricing was either to be determined separately or was subject to competitive bidding processes.
