2009 CD-1 Strain Mice Bid Terms and Specifications
This document outlines bid terms and specifications for an annual contract for CD-1 strain mice in Maine. The contract involves the procurement of laboratory mice of the CD-1 strain, a commonly used research animal model. The specifications detail requirements for animal health, genetics, housing conditions, and delivery standards that bidders must meet to qualify for the contract. The document establishes minimum performance standards for vendors supplying these animals, including requirements for pathogen-free status, genetic uniformity, and veterinary health certifications. Delivery schedules and packaging specifications are included to ensure animal welfare during transport and upon arrival at the receiving facility.
The bid terms specify pricing structures for different animal sizes, age groups, and delivery frequencies based on anticipated annual usage volumes. The specifications require vendors to maintain specific health and genetic standards verified through regular testing and documentation. All bidders must demonstrate capability to supply animals meeting defined quality parameters and provide evidence of adequate breeding facilities and quality control protocols. Payment terms, warranty provisions regarding animal health and viability upon delivery, and conditions for contract renewal are outlined to protect the state's interests and ensure consistent supply of research-grade animals throughout the contract period.
