Questions and Answers #2
1. User personas - is this a process we will develop together? Can beta testers be current NIHCC patients or is this something the contractor will be recruiting separately?
Yes, this is a process that we will develop together and beta testers will be NIHCC patients and families.
2. Navigation aspect - Should the user be able to choose a location and receive directions there? Or is it just an information screen that will pull up an activities page once you arrive at a location?
The user should become familiar with the layout of the CC and through adventure/exploration find their way to the designated rooms. The vendor will choose and refine the best process.
3. How much interaction do you anticipate the NIHCC staff to have with this app? (Ex. Can the Gift Shop give out out-of-game awards if a user shows an activity completion screen?
The outside-of-APP awards process and interaction with staff will be assessed and determined in user feedback. At this time, we anticipate little or no staff interaction
4. Will clinical staff be aware of game theming? (Ex. MRI staff pretend the room is a spaceship if the app says going into one is like going on a spaceship? Etc.) How much is the staff “in” on the game?
The primary objective of this APP is to familiarize users with the NIHCC and the tests and procedures that they may encounter. Through a fun, engaging, and educational experience, users should learn about these rooms and procedures as they are in a real context.
5. Is there a budget or staff for “out-of-game” rewards? Will this aspect be owned by the contractor or NIHCC?
There is no staff or budget for the out of game rewards. It is not essential to the MVP or to achieving the primary goals. The out-of-games rewards will be the responsibility of the NIHCC but will be assessed and determined in user feedback.
6. Who would be responsible for maintaining any updates to the map? Would a Construction and Management Simulation be a potential future feature?
The vendor will make updates if these are determined to by the NIHCC to be imperative to the user’s experience. All proposed simulations must achieve the primary objective of familiarizing users with the NIHCC and the medical tests and procedures that they may encounter.
