About this file

This is Amendment #1 to Request for Bid (RFB) #20-0061 issued by the University of Wisconsin-Madison Purchasing Services for a Field Assisted Sintering Technology System. The amendment addresses questions received from bidders regarding specifications and shipping terms outlined in the original RFB package. The document clarifies that bid prices and terms shall remain firm for sixty (60) days from the date of bid opening. Bidders are instructed to revise and resubmit their bids to reflect the amendment conditions; failure to return the amendment will be construed as acceptance that the original bid meets all amendment conditions. All other terms and conditions from the original RFB remain unchanged.

Key clarifications provided in the amendment include: (1) confirmation that an internal integrated cooling system is preferable, though external heat exchanger systems or separate chiller units are acceptable alternatives, with bidders permitted to propose alternatives if building cooling water capacity is uncertain; and (2) modification of the shipping arrangement to FOB Destination with Freight and Insurance prepaid and added to the invoice, rather than FOB as originally requested. Bidders must certify compliance with all procurement regulations, including non-collusion attestations, conflict of interest statements, and debarment status. Questions regarding this bid should be directed to Jeff Whitman at UW-Madison Purchasing Services.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS FOR UW RFB #20-0061

Q1. Attachment B - Item 8:

Does this point reflect the internal cooling system what’s integrated in the SPS machine or does it ask for an additional heat exchanger which is separating the SPS machine to your main cooling circle?

A1a: An internal integrated cooling system is preferable. An external heat exchange system would also be acceptable.

Finally, we could still offer a third option in comparison to the widespread use of a heat exchanger what points out a entire chiller unit. If you have a domestic water supply in your plant, we would recommend to connect this one to the SPS machine directly or separate the cooling circle by use of a heat exchanger what we could integrate in our scope of supply for you.

A1b: We are not sure whether our building provides adequate cooling water. You may propose it as an alternative.

Q2. Attachment B - Item 10:

We would like to quote incoterm FOB as it’s requested under 5.1. Unfortunately it seems that‘s a little in contradiction to Attachment B where the shipping and transport is required up to the Engineering Research building. With your confirmation we would continue with FOB for our submission package.

A2: The preferred shipping arrangement is FOB Destination; Freight & Insurance prepaid and added to invoice.
