About this file

This is an amendment to a Request for Bid (RFB) issued by the University of Wisconsin-Madison Purchasing Services for the procurement of a 64-channel EEG system. Amendment #1 addresses questions submitted by bidders and clarifies technical requirements and specifications for the system. Bidders must sign and return the amendment with their bids to avoid disqualification. The bid prices and terms remain firm for sixty days from the date of bid opening unless otherwise specified. Award determination will be made as soon as possible following the bid opening, with the bid abstract available for public inspection only after an award decision has been made.

The amendment provides critical clarifications on system requirements through a questions and answers section. Key specifications confirmed include: the system must include a parallel port emulator capable of USB connection to a stimulus computer with BNC integration for TMS stimulator compatibility and the ability to stretch short TTL pulses; active electrodes must be field-replaceable by users without requiring equipment shipment to vendors or soldering; the system must provide expandable channel capability without sacrificing existing hardware; and EEG data must be saved in an open format readable by third-party software. The specification does not require real-time impedance feedback via color-coded LEDs on electrodes or EOG/EMG measurement accessories. Gel estimates are based on a throughput of three subjects per week for one year's supply. Bidders should direct all questions to Janet Bresnahan at UW Purchasing, 21 N Park Street, Suite 6101, Madison, WI 53715-1218, telephone 608/262-6335, or janet.bresnahan@wisc.edu.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS FOR RFB #20-0033

Q1.Will the system require a parallel port emulator, to connect to the stimulus computer via USB, that is also capable of BNC integration with a TMS stimulator, and can stretch short TTL pulses to account for the sampling frequency of the EEG device?
A1.Yes
Q2.Simultaneous EEG-TMS requires measurement of EOG (for correcting blinks and saccades) and EMG (for motor thresholding of the TMS pulse). Will the system require accessories for measuring these signals?
A2.No
Q3.With respect to 1 years' worth of gel, is basing estimates on a throughput of 3x subjects per week reasonable?
A3.Yes
Q4.With respect to active electrode technology, is it required that electrodes be field-replaceable (i.e., can be replaced quickly onsite by the user with a screwdriver, without needing to ship equipment to the vendor for repairs, and without the need for soldering)?
A4.Yes
Q5.With respect to active electrode technology, is it required that the system give real time impedance feedback in the form of color-coded LEDs on the electrodes themselves?
A5.No
Q6.Is it required that the system be expandable, such that additional channels capability may be added to the amplifier without sacrificing or trading in existing hardware?
A6.Yes
Q7.Is it required that the EEG data be saved in an open format that can be read by 3rd-party software?
A7.Yes
