Statement of Work Repair Fire Suppression Deficiencies at El Portal Maintenance Complex
Objective
Yosemite National Park (YOSE) has a need for repair of fire system deficiencies identified during the annual testing. After repairs are made to the systems, annual inspections will be performed to achieve a passing report.
All required inspections, testing, and maintenance to be performed as per the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 25, Standard for Inspections, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems and all other associated NFPA Standards. This is considered a remote location and connectivity can be an issue.
Background
YOSE has over 140 fire suppression systems in buildings parkwide. Each system is inspected each year and deficiencies identified. This project is to bring the fire suppression systems in the El Portal Maintenance Complex, locations including: EPB 0755 – Roads Shop, EPB 0757 – Covered Storage (Large), EPB 794 – Covered Storage (Small), EPB 0759 – Maintenance Administration Building (Maintenance Building, Vehicle Maintenance, Shops, and Covered Storage), and EPB 0797 – Resource Management (RMS) into compliance with NFPA requirements.
The contractor will perform tasks to rectify the deficiencies identified during the annual inspections. Deficiencies include the following, but not limited to interval testing, reconfiguring sprinkler layout for modified interior spaces, replacement of dry pendant heads, replacement of recalled sprinkler heads, replacement of cabinet mounted fire hoses, automatic drain valves on FDC connections, freeze protection of exposed wet portions of dry pipe systems, and performing system inspections with passing reports.
Scope
The contractor shall provide all parts, materials, labor, supervision, management, transportation, and equipment necessary to perform the work.
The contractor shall maintain an adequate workforce to complete the work associated with the contract in a timely manner, within the period of performance.
The contractor shall perform a field review of the deficiencies identified by others (EBL Engineers and HCI Systems, Inc) and included in this scope for work to confirm their validity and accuracy (see attached).
Contractor shall perform all inspections and testing required at intervals equal to or greater than yearly: including 5 year internal pipe exams, 3 year leak test of dry pipe systems, 5 year hydrostatic test of the fire department connection (FDC) piping, and annual testing.
The contractor shall provide a written inspection report for each location and test performed.
