About this file
This Scope of Work document outlines a purchase order from the Dallas Area Rapid Transit Authority (DART) for potassium acetate de-icer to support operations at newly constructed Silver Line Rail Stations. DART seeks to procure two 275-gallon caged totes of Potassium Acetate KA-50 solution for use during inclement weather events. The totes will be stored at DART's Rowlett and Northwest Regional Operations Facility (NWROF) maintenance facilities to ensure quick access for de-icing applications. Potassium acetate is specified as a preferable alternative to traditional sodium-based brine solutions due to its significantly lower corrosiveness to metal infrastructure, a characteristic that has made it the de-icer of choice for the aviation industry.
All bids must include FOB Destination shipping terms with freight costs incorporated into the overall price. DART's standard payment terms are Net 30, with invoices submitted in triplicate to APInvoices@dart.org and containing the purchase order number, item descriptions, quantities, unit prices, and extended totals. Delivery timing and rates are essential contract requirements, with failure to meet specified delivery schedules subject to order rejection and default termination. Payment will be made 30 days from receipt of the invoice or 30 days from receipt of the order, whichever is later, unless alternative payment terms are agreed upon in writing. All purchase orders are subject to DART's standard Terms and Conditions, which are available in the supporting documentation section of the procurement posting.

Scope of Work Potassium Acetate De-Icer
Background
As a de-icing agent, many transit agencies and municipalities have started using a Sodium based brine solution to protect roadways, walkways and stairwells in the event of inclement weather. While highly effective in preventing icing during these weather events, the downside is that a Salt Brine is corrosive to metal. An alternative to this practice is to use Potassium Acetate, highly used by the Aviation industry. Potassium Acetate is a safe, efficient alternative that is significantly less corrosive as compared to the typical Salt Brine Solution.
Scope of Work
DART would like to procure two (2) 275 Gallon Caged Totes of Potassium Acetate KA-50 Solution to be used on the new Silver Line Rail Stations in the event of inclement weather.
These totes, once received will be located at our Rowlett and NWROF maintenance facilities for quick access and use of the Silver Line.
