About this file
This is a specification document (Appendix A) for a state and local contract opportunity issued by School District U-46 in Illinois for the procurement of 8,000 student Chromebooks for the 2026-2027 school year. The specification establishes mandatory and preferred technical requirements for vendor submissions, including device design, display, processing power, storage, and connectivity standards. All submitted devices must feature a convertible design with a 12" to 14" capacitive touchscreen (minimum 1920x1080p resolution), an Intel Celeron N100 series quad-core CPU or greater, 8GB RAM minimum, 64GB internal storage, Intel AX Wi-Fi 6E-compliant wireless capability, and Chrome OS as the operating system. The devices must include a 720p webcam, at least one USB Type-A port, one USB-C port with DisplayPort Alt Mode capability, a 3.5mm audio connector, and internal speakers.
The specification requires robust ruggedization standards, including a flexible screen that will not crack when closed with objects on the keyboard and resistance to damage from short drops, along with rubberized edging on the device chassis. All Chromebooks must include spill-resistant, tamper-resistant keyboards with keys that can be reinstalled without tools, USB-C charging capability compatible with third-party chargers, and a compliant USB-C power adapter supporting multiple power delivery profiles (20V, 15V, 12V, 9V, 5V). Additional requirements include a Google Admin Management Console license and a three-year hardware warranty covering both the device and battery. The specification does not indicate pricing terms, set-aside provisions, response deadlines, or award timelines in the provided document.
