The engineer will adjust the plan quantity of the designated pay item to an agreed quantity for an error or omission with no change in contract unit price.

109.1.1.2 Bid Items Designated as **R**

If the schedule of items designates a bid item with **R** in the item description due to budget restraints this item may not be used or may be used in part or in its entirety and the County will not make adjustments to the contract unit price as included in the section 104.2.2.4, section 104.2.2.5, and section 109.5.

Add the following paragraph to Section 109.6.3.2.1 of the Standard Specifications:

Verify total daily tonnage with the engineer on a daily basis. Only quantities agreed upon as the work progresses will be paid.

Weight bills and delivery tickets must be provided to the engineer within 7 days of placement to be considered for payment.

Revise the second paragraph of section 109.6.3.3 of the Standard Specifications to read as follows:

In addition to the above retainage, the department will retain 5% of the value of the work completed, and 5% of the value of materials and equipment delivered and suitably stored, until 50% completion. At 50% completion, no additional amounts will be retained unless the engineer certifies that the work is not proceeding satisfactorily, but amounts previously retained will not be paid to the contractor until final acceptance of the work by the department. When the contractor substantially completes the work under the contract or upon completion and acceptance of the work, and pending final payment, the engineer may choose to reduce the amount retained.

11. Notice to Contractor – Modification or Elimination of Bid Items.

The department will not allow for a Cost Reduction Incentive as described in subsection 104.10 of the standard specifications for any elimination and/or modification of any contract bid items. Stage construction of any commercial entrance that requires continuous access as incidental to the contract. Coordinate with local businesses.

Submit to the engineer for approval, a detailed traffic control plan if different than the traffic control plan provided in the plans. Submit this plan to the engineer 14 working days prior to anticipated use.

Additional intermediate construction staging or staging gaps, not shown on the plans, may be necessary to maintain continuous access to all properties. If the contractor coordinates the closure of any access to

26-003 6 of 19 a business or private property with the owner(s), provide written documentation or coordination with the owner(s) to the engineer 48 hours prior to any closure.

Do not perform construction operations until all traffic control devices for such work are in proper location.
