II. BACKGROUND
Mental Health Center (MHC) – Group A The Mental Health Center is a critical component of the Waukesha County Health and Human Services Department, encompassing facilities that provide essential mental health services such as a psychiatric hospital, crisis stabilization unit, outpatient clinic services, and administrative offices.
Points of Emphasis:
Safety Concerns:
It is imperative to maintain a secure environment for both the staff and the clients served at this location. The center frequently has between 50 to 100 individuals on-site at any given time, comprising both employees and clients. Ensuring their safety is paramount, as the nature of the services provided can involve situations that require specialized security measures.
Operational Context:
Two critical programs operate on a 24/7 basis, necessitating constant security vigilance. These programs benefit significantly from having security personnel available to assist in managing and de-escalating situations involving agitated clients.
Core Security Services:
• The security services required include proactive monitoring via security cameras to oversee both internal and external areas of the campus for ongoing safety.
• Security personnel will be responsible for interfacing with emergency services if they are called to the scene, ensuring smooth and effective communication.
• The role also extends to managing and mitigating emergencies related to natural disasters or injuries, providing essential support that enhances the overall response capability of the center.
Location Specifics:
The Mental Health Center’s location on Airport Road places it within a vibrant community, requiring nuanced security protocols tailored specifically to the dynamics of a behavioral health environment.
The need for specialized security services is underlined by the critical role these facilities play in the community, providing necessary support to individuals in crisis. As such, the selected security service provider must be adept not only at traditional security measures but must also possess skills in crisis intervention, emergency preparedness, and collaborative problem-solving. This includes working effectively with mental health professionals, reflecting a holistic approach to safety and security.
