Market Research Questionnaire Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division (NSWCCD)

Market Research Questionnaire Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division (NSWCCD) Market Research is being conducted to determine all potential socio-economic small businesses and large businesses interested in, and capable of, providing the services identified herein.

North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code:

541330

Small Business Size Standard: 16.5 (millions of dollars) (For more information about Small Business Size Standards, please refer to http://www.sba.gov.)

Anticipated Contract Type:

Cost-Plus-Fixed-Fee (CPFF)

Background:

The Survivability and Weapons Effects Division (Code 66) has been developing and utilizing computer programs to assess the vulnerability of ships over the last 40 years. NSWCCD has developed several computer models and simulations (M&S) to assess weapons effects and ship vulnerability including Ship Vulnerability Model (SVM), Advanced Ship Assessment Program (ASAP), Submarine Vulnerability Evaluation Model (SUBVEM), Ultimate Strength (ULTSTR) and HULLWHIP (software developed by the government to analyze structural damage following an underwater explosion). Weapons effects modeled include fragments and blast from proximity and internal bursts of conventional weapons; shock, whipping, impact and penetration from underwater weapons; penetration from air delivered threats such as Anti-Ship Cruise Missiles (ASCMs); various kinetic and chemical energy penetrators; and air blast, thermal and shock from nuclear weapons. A common thread in conducting vulnerability assessments for various weapon effects is the use of Government owned and developed computer simulation models for ship description and damage prediction.
