Salient Specifications for Decontamination Shower System and
Accessories
Decontamination Shower System:
1. Must be designed/capable of using a single standard U.S. garden hose and standard U.S. garden hose fittings.
2. Must be fully operational using water pressures between 10psi and 50psi.
3. Must be a multi part system consisting of separate collection pool/sump, shower head with freestanding support unit and elevation grids.
4. Shower unit must be constructed of PVC Type 1, Grade 1 with a minimum wall thickness of 0.2”.
5. Shower unit must be a minimum assembled size of 42" x 36" x 84".
6. Shower unit must feature a minimum of 4 shower heads with a minimum flow rate of 4gpm each and must include an independent hand held sprayer with a minimum 8’ hose length.
7. Shower must meet the ANSI/ISEA 113-2013 standards for flow rates and spray patterns.
8. Shower unit must accommodate standing, sitting and non-ambulatory personnel without modification.
9. Shower unit must include valve system that allows for simultaneous shower and hand held sprayer use, shower only use and hand held sprayer only use.
10. Shower unit must be color coded for easy identification of top and bottom during assembly.
11. Shower unit must utilize quick connect fittings for assembly and breakdown.
12. Shower unit must have an opaque vinyl enclosure that includes a white top to allow light into enclosure, a mesh window and be configurable to both full and partial privacy.
13. Shower unit top and bottom must interlock for storage.
14. Shower must include coated PVC fabric carrying bags with carrying handles and drainage holes capable of carrying a minimum of 70lbs.
15. Shower enclosure must attach to collection pool without tools.
16. Collection pool must be collapsible and have a minimum unfolded size of 4’ x 8’ x 14” and a maximum folded size of 4’ x 14” x 14”.
17. Collection pool must have a minimum of 300gal capacity.
18. Collection pool must have carrying handles and be constructed of a pin secured aluminum frame with a vinyl liner that is chemical, UV and mildew resistant.
19. Collection pool liner must be replaceable.
20. Both elevation grids must fit in collection pool/sump, allow for drainage through the grid, be a minimum size of 3’ x 2’ x 5” and be constructed of a durable polypropylene.
21. Shower system must be capable of complete assembly by two trained personnel in less than 8 minutes.
22. Shower must be capable of operation with water temperatures between 33°F and 104°F.
23. Must be able to be stored in temperatures between -20°F to 120°F.
Chemical Resistant Garden Sprayer:
1. Must have a minimum of 2gal capacity with a maximum water filled weight of 20lbs.
2. Must feature spray wand and minimum of 50” hose from tank to spray wand.
3. Must use mechanically generated, pressurized air to dispense decontamination solution.
4. Chemical tank must pressurize with a hand pump mechanism.
5. Trigger system must have locking mechanism for both on and off positions.
6. Container must be constructed of material that allows user to see fluid level through the walls of the container.
7. Must have a carrying strap.
8. Must operate without electricity.
9. Must have a pressure relief valve.
10. Must have measurement markings in both metric and imperial units.
11. Must have a no spill funnel top.
12. Must have an adjustable spray nozzle.
13. Spray wand must have hand operated spray control.
Heavy Duty Privacy Screen:
1. Frame must be constructed of PVC Type 1, Grade 1.
2. Frame must be a minimum size of 66”H x 62”W.
3. Privacy screen must be a minimum of 5’ x 5’.
4. Privacy screen material must be constructed of 8oz vinyl PVC fabric that is antimicrobial, anti-fungal, anti-mildew, chemical resistant and biohazard impervious.
5. Must have an assembled weight of less than 13lbs.
6. Must include carrying bag with handle and be constructed of urethane coted vinyl with barrel lock closure.
7. Must have a maximum storage size of 65” x 6”.
8. Assembly must be single person portable.
9. Must be reusable.
10. Must be anti-spark and flame resistant.
11. Must not require tools for assembly or disassembly.
12. Must be capable of being assembled by one person in less than 8 minutes.
Water Supply Hose:
1. Must have standard U.S. garden hose fittings on each end. One end must have a fixed standard male Garden Hose Thread and the other end a swivel collar standard female Garden Hose Thread with washer gasket, both constructed of solid brass and attached to the hose with brass ferrules.
2. Must have a maximum working pressure of 300psi at 70°F and 180psi at 122°F.
3. Must be 50’ in length.
4. Must be constructed of double wall PVC material with encased spiral and longitudinal polyester fiber reinforcement that is UV and weather resistant.
5. Must be flexible in cold weather.
6. Must have an interior hose diameter of ½”
7. Must operate in a temperature range of -15°F to 150°F.
