About this file
This document is a Bid Form for the City of Palo Alto's Art Center Gas Kiln Replacement project, soliciting proposals for a comprehensive kiln replacement and installation. The procurement seeks a Geil Downdraft Kiln Model DLB-20, a 20 cubic foot, brick-lined, front-loading kiln with ETL certification, to be delivered and installed in the Art Center's Adult Studio Ceramics Program. The bid includes multiple line items covering the kiln itself, side damper, demountable flue, automatic damper control system, hood with baffle, delivery, installation, and removal of the existing kiln. Bidders are required to submit electronic quotes through the City's OpenGov portal by Friday, September 26, 2025, at 3:00 pm, with a mandatory question submission deadline of September 19, 2025, at 1:00 pm.
The bid form indicates a focus on selecting the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, with contractors required to demonstrate compliance with prevailing wage regulations and Department of Industrial Relations registration. While no specific budget range is detailed, the bid includes comprehensive pricing components for the kiln and related equipment. The project will be partially funded by the Palo Alto Art Center Ceramics Programs under CIP AC-28003 and will be executed under the City's Minor Public Works Agreement framework. Contractors must provide extensive insurance coverage, including Worker's Compensation, Employer's Liability, General Liability, and Automobile Liability, with specific minimum coverage limits. Performance and payment bonds are mandatory, and the contract term is not expected to exceed three years from execution.
