About this file

This is a Bidders Questions and Answers document issued by the State of Michigan Department of Corrections for RFI 190000000028 regarding the procurement of hospital beds for correctional settings. The RFI seeks med-surg style hospital beds to replace aging equipment currently in use. The Department of Corrections anticipates replacing some beds before October 1, 2019, subject to budget availability, with remaining beds to be purchased thereafter. The exact quantity of beds needed is unknown at this time and will be determined based on facility needs and allocated budget. The replacement beds will be used for med-surg and long-term care patient care. Current inventory consists of Stryker FL17E, Stryker FL14E, and Hill-Rom P870 models, which are older and increasingly expensive to maintain.

Bidders are required to submit detailed specifications, pictures, and literature for proposed beds. The MDOC has specific security and safety requirements, including beds that must be tethered and chained to the floor with no easily removable or accessible parts, enclosed wiring, and bolted rather than pin-type tool-less accessories. No specific number of referrals or references is required for the RFI response. Pricing terms, set-asides, and other financial details are not addressed in this questions and answers document.
