About this file

This is a Question and Answer document from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) regarding Invitation for Bid (IFB) 161256 for a mobile office unit rental at 50 Jordan Point Road, Hopewell, Virginia 23860. The project requires the furnishing, delivery, installation, and removal of one mobile office unit available for monthly rental. The specifications mandate a mobile office unit measuring 10 or 12 feet wide by exactly 46 feet in length, with the measurement referring to the building body itself and excluding any trailer hitch. The unit must accommodate three enclosed offices, each measuring at least 10 feet by 12 feet. No restroom is required within the unit. The installation site consists of dirt and gravel ground conditions, and VDOT will not level or prepare the area prior to installation, making contractor site preparation a necessary consideration.

The question and answer document addresses critical clarifications regarding unit specifications and site conditions that prospective bidders required to understand the project requirements. Key clarifications include confirmation that the 46-foot length specification is non-negotiable with no alternative configurations permitted, such as the proposed 12-foot by 60-foot trailer arrangement. Bidders were also informed that VDOT will not provide water and sewer connections, as no restroom is required. The document does not specify pricing terms, set-aside provisions, contract term length, renewal options, or funding sources in the questions and answers provided.
