About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document for a medical waste disposal contract solicitation. The incumbent contractor is Stericycle under contract number 15B41423D00000035, with pricing available on FPDS. The institution's current waste requirements total 85,000 pounds annually, reduced from 165,000 pounds during COVID, with no seasonal fluctuations expected.

The contractor must maintain 31-gallon reusable tubs onsite, with pickups scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Exchange container requirements are nine tubs for Monday and Wednesday pickups and 21 tubs for Friday pickups, though offerors must determine an appropriate quantity to maintain on hand. The contract includes pharmaceutical waste (very few pounds annually, as-needed basis) and trace chemotherapy waste (fewer than 12 bags annually, as-needed basis). Electronic manifests are acceptable, and invoices must document pickup dates, number of pickups, quantities, and pricing aligned with contract line items. The contractor must comply with all applicable Federal, EPA, and Missouri licensing regulations, plus Disposal of Patient Materials standards requiring protection of patient-identifying information on collection tubes and accession numbers. The waste collection location is outside the secured perimeter, requiring no site visit. No additional security screenings beyond standard terms and conditions are required. Holiday scheduling should be coordinated with the Contracting Officer Technical Representative. The Government reports no recurring performance issues with the current contract, emphasizing that good communication is key.
