Exhibit 05-01 — Public Spaces: Introduction
CE-05-01-100 Community Tree
As visitors approach this stylized tree, directional and interpretive text encourage them to “activate” the structure. As they touch one of the metal “branches,” only the canopy connected to that single branch will light up (edge lighting). When all the metal branches are touched at the same time, not only will all the canopies light up, but three projectors in the ceiling are activated—projecting a moving light on the ground for a few seconds—in other words, when a community works together, an even more beautiful result occurs.

Visitors can select magnetic, pre-printed shapes with words, or write their own words on blank dry erase shapes, and build an ultimate shape that reflects them as a person, a family, or a community. the interactive may be done by one person but more interesting dynamics arise when two people may share certain (but not all) traits.
