14. DESCRIPTION OF AMENDMENT/MODIFICATION (Organized by UCF section headings, including solicitation/contract subject matter where feasible.)
The purpose of this amendment is to answer the following questions:
Question 1: Amendment 0003 answer 1, Ambient Audio EP-01-03-999: This states that NPS will identify with our community language partners other language speakers. We envision these as location-recorded at sites within the city. However Amendment 0002 answer 1 states that ambient audio is being produced for the project by faculty and students at UMass.
Can you clarify whether the selected contractor will be recording or creating any of the audio elements for this piece, including sound effects and/or dialogue?
Will UMass be providing all sound elements including dialogue, and the contractor will be providing sound mixing services only?
Or is the Ambient Audio not part of the scope of work?

Answer 1: Ambient audio is in the scope of work.
Contractor is to provide formatting or integration of already-recorded sound, playback hardware, and installation. The principal sound recording will be by NPS with its partners at
UMass Lowell.
Question 2: Amendment 0003 answer 4 EP-02-04-99.
Can you clarify whether you envision single musicians performing their own compositions, or bands performing? The description of this interactive states that visitors will have the option to isolate the sound of the selected instrument. If this interactive features single musicians performing, then there is no audio isolation needed, and this interactive will simply be allowing users to select musicians/instruments and then playing a video of them performing.
Answer 2: Depending upon genre and instruments, music may be performed by soloists, duos, or groups. There will be performances in which more than one instrument is being played together
(e.g. sitar and tabla drum).
Question 3: EP-04-05-999 A Seat At The Kitchen
Table: Can you provide an example of one of the scenarios that might be shown, so that we can budget appropriately?
Answer 3: Scenarios are still being developed.
The concept is that of a conversation among two or three persons gathered in a household kitchen, talking about an event in their day, and so that visitors can select to hear different speakers in that conversation. See description on pages 49-50 of Electronic Program Report
Question 4: EP-04-05-999 A Seat At The Kitchen
Table: Will the park be scripting the dialogue for these scenarios and character perspectives?
Answer 4: Yes, NPS will script the dialogues for these.
Question 5: EP-04-05-999 A Seat At The Kitchen
Table: Can multiple stories be told simultaneously if multiple users come to the

140P4321R0009/0004 table?
Answer 5: No, a small group gathered around the table would still encounter one story at a time.
Question 6: EP-04-05-999 A Seat At The Kitchen
Table: How many visitors can use the table at one time? Does the table show a single story at a time, or can it show multiple simultaneously?
Answer 6: One story would be accessed at one time. Multiple visitors will observe together.
Question 7: EP-06-03-999 Storybooth: Is introductory / explanatory narration required, or will all instructions be text-based?
Answer7: Instructions should be accessible per
ADA and available in display copy and as audio for sight-impaired.
Question 8: EP-06-03-999 Storybooth: Can you clarify the connectivity restrictions and how videos will be accessed for review and transferred to the Experience Stations? The description says that videos will be available for review via a CMS for remote access and upload to the Experience Stations but then also says that files will need to be transferred via SD card or other hardware.
Answer 8: NPS is expecting fabricator to propose a content management system that can be used in each Experience station (02-xx, 04-xx, 05-xx) that is accessible locally and will allow adding new data collected in the Storybooth and edited for display. Story content is different for each station.
Question 9: EP-06-03-999 Storybooth: Should the interface work both as touchscreen AND through accessibility interface panel when required?
Answer 9: The interface must be accessible for all users, according to ADA and ABA.
