About this file
This is a Request for Quote document issued by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources for tree removal and tree piling services at McCord Pond Wildlife Management Area in Guthrie County. The project encompasses 21 acres and involves the removal of invasive species and habitat improvement to prepare the area for reconstruction to diverse native prairie. All trees with a diameter of 3 inches or greater must be cut as low to the ground as possible, stump-treated with DNR-provided chemical, and piled in designated existing pile locations. The work area is bounded by Hickory Avenue on the west and 120th Street on the south, both with associated powerlines that must not be damaged during removal operations. Bidders must register and submit quotes through the IMPACS Electronic Procurement System via the JAGGAER ONE platform using solicitation number 27CRDWBTVENT-0004S. The solicitation opened on September 4, 2026 at 1:00 PM CDT, with quotes due by September 18, 2026 at 10:00 AM CDT. The project scope is subject to modification based on bid results and available funding, with potential reductions in tree removal acreage and piling work.
Bidders must provide contact information, Iowa Contractor Registration Number if applicable, years in business and relevant experience, technical expertise documentation, references from three previous customers, and confirmation of their ability to perform tree removal near gravel roads and powerlines without causing damage. Payment terms allow the State of Iowa 60 days to remit invoices per Iowa Code 8A.514, with bidders asked to specify any early payment discounts for 15-day and 30-day payment options. All bidders must acknowledge acceptance of the DNR Standard Contract Conditions and General Conditions available on the Iowa DNR website. The solicitation is available exclusively through the IMPACS system, with questions directed to colton.lullmann@dnr.iowa.gov or the general procurement contact at procurement@dnr.iowa.gov. The actual project acreage may vary between plus or minus 21 acres depending on total funding availability.

Objective: This 21 acre project at McCord Pond WMA in Guthrie County at Coordinates 41.83579, -
94.60394 is to accomplish tree removal and tree piling to remove invasive species and improve habitat by preparing the area to be reconstructed to diverse native prairie. The project area has a road (Hickory Avenue) on the West boundary and a road (120th St) on the South Boundary. These two boundaries also have powerlines, the West with the powerline in the right of way and the South with it on the South side of the road. It will be important that trees along these boundaries are removed in a matter that does not damage the powerlines/power poles and the county gravel roads. The project area has had understory brush and small trees forestry ground. There are existing tree piles from earlier tree removal projects. These piles will be added to instead of creating new. Project will be subject to change based on the DNR’s discretion based on bid results and available funding. Changes could include reduction of tree removal acres and/or reduction of tree piling.
