• Pump Motor connections will be disconnected and reconnected by plant staff.
This work must take place approximately between July 1 and September 30, 2026.
PERFORMANCE WORK STATEMENT (PWS)
1.0 SCOPE
1.1 OBJECTIVE
The purpose for this contract is to acquire contractor services to perform dewatering well repair for one groundwater pumping well near Leadville, Colorado. The Leadville Mine Drainage Tunnel Water Treatment Plant, (Leadville treatment plant), 749 Highway 91, owned and operated by Reclamation, is located near Leadville, Colorado in Lake County. Three pumping wells extract contaminated groundwater from the mine drainage tunnel and convey it to the treatment plant headworks via buried piping. Reclamation is soliciting proposals for the replacement of a well casing screen which has deteriorated and is no longer functioning as designed. This well is located at pump station 10+25 along the tunnel alignment, see attached map.
1.2 BACKGROUND
The Leadville plant processes 1.5-2.5 million gallons per day of mine drainage water to remove dissolved zinc, manganese, iron, and other trace metals in accordance with EPA discharge permit standards. Pumping wells provide raw water influent to the treatment plant via vertical turbine pumps controlled by variable frequency drives through the plant programmable logic control system.
Due to poor water quality, the screened portion of Dewatering well #1 casing has deteriorated and must be replaced. The screen is necessary to prevent particulate material from the tunnel interior from being drawn into the dewatering pump with the potential of damaging the pump.
Access to dewatering well stations is via unimproved forested mining roads, within 5 minutes of the treatment plant, and may require four-wheel drive vehicles.
Contractor shall arrive on site with all equipment and personnel to perform the required tasks unless specifically addressed. Equipment will be in good working order set by industry standards in order to avoid any unnecessary impacts to the environment or project delays.
Government furnished property will include only that specifically listed below, the remainder is the responsibility of the contractor.
Labor for all removal, inspection, installation, and screen cleaning work will be performed by vendor(s) as the project requires work and equipment beyond plant capability, with the following exceptions:
