DK Dam Tenders House Roof Replacement

FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY

Questions and Responses:

1. Question: The current photos show architectural shingles but the bid notice and SOW ways 3 tab. Wondering what to bid as Per IRC 2018 3 tabs don’t meet wind requirements.

Response: Please see Paragraph 6 of the revised Statement of Work (SOW).

2. Question: Currently there are K style aluminum gutters and the SOW says 24 ga which would be steel gutters but no downspouts.

Response: Please see Paragraph 6 of the revised Statement of Work (SOW).

3. Question: What would the measurements be on the roof?

1. Exact Square Footage?

2. Pitch of Roof?

3. Rake Measurement?

4. Eave Measurement?

5. Valley Measurement?

6. Hip & Ridge Measurement?

7. Number of Attic Vents or Length of Ridge Vent?

8. Number of Pipes?

Response: A) 2,388 square feet B) Roof pitch 4/12 C) No hip on roof D) Five turntable vents, Masterflow NFA 65 sp in no ridge vents (replace turntables with whirlybirds) E) 2-3” no calk pipes F) 1-2” no calc pipes

4. Question: What type of roofing material is it? Asphalt shingles, tile?

Response: Architectural Asphalt shingle, (Replacements must be GAF lamented timberline class 3 or equivalent, best industry warranty and support)

5. Question: What is the actual address of the Heart Butte Dam Tender House (or GPS point on the map)?

Response: 5670 highway 49 Elgin, ND 58533. Please see Paragraph 3 of the Revised Statement of Work.

6. Question: According to the pictures in the solicitation, there are currently laminate, architectural shingles on the house, not composite, 3-tab shingles. Composite 3-tab shingles are being discontinued, because they are lightweight, flat and have only one tab shingle shape and size. Due to their weight and construction they are much more vulnerable to wind and hail and are often ripped off during stormy weather. Laminate architectural shingles are much more resistant to hail and wind due to their dense, layered build. Laminate architectural shingles have almost twice the wind resistance, around 130 mph wind resistance vs. approximately 60 mph for 3 tab shingles. Laminated architectural shingle granules also have a copper and zinc compound, making them resistant to algae and moisture. Is it still the government's desire to switch to a composite 3 tab shingle on the structure (the Dam Tender House roof)?

Response: The government requires laminated architectural asphalt shingles. Please see Paragraph 6 of the Revised Statement of Work.

7. Question: I would appreciate any additional details you can provide regarding the specific address or GPS coordinates of the site.

Response: 5670 highway 49 Elgin, ND 58533. Please see Paragraph 3 of the Revised Statement of Work.

8. Question: Could you please provide the GPS coordinates and an aerial view of the project location?

Response: 5670 highway 49 Elgin, ND 58533. Please see Paragraph 3 of the Revised Statement of Work and the following ariel view map.

9. Question: Shingle Specification The SOW specifies “laminated composite 3-tab shingles.” In commercial practice, laminated (architectural-style) shingles and 3-tab shingles are distinct product types. To avoid misinterpretation, could you please confirm whether the Government intends for contractors to provide laminated architectural shingles, 3-tab shingles, or another specific material consistent with the SOW description?

Response: The Government requires Laminated architectural shingles.

10. Question: Fascia Hanger Straps The SOW lists fascia hanger straps as the required gutter-support hardware. These are different from standard gutter straps. We want to confirm that fascia-mounted hanger straps (No. 20 gauge galvanized) are the intended product and that standard gutter straps should not be used unless otherwise directed.

Response: Hidden hangers are required to be No. 32 gauge aluminum.

11. Question: Downspouts Downspouts are not included anywhere in the demolition or installation requirements. To ensure accurate pricing, please confirm whether:

• Downspouts are excluded from the scope, as written, or

The Government would like us to include removal or replacement of downspouts as part of the contract.

Response: This project will include the removal and replacement of downspouts as part of the contract. See the Revised Statement of Work (SOW.

12. Question: Gutter Material and Color The SOW specifies 5", No. 24 gauge galvanized metal gutters. We have prepared gutter material selections consistent with this requirement and will submit color options per the submittal process. Please confirm that galvanized steel gutters are fully compliant with the specification.

Response: Please see Paragraph 6 of the Revised Statement of Work. Galvanized steel gutters are NOT to be used. The house currently has aluminum gutters and replacements shall be aluminum, as well.

13. Question: Architectural shingles are on the roof current but you are calling for 3 tab shingles and you are calling for 24Ga steel Gutters with straps? But from the photos you have aluminum gutters and downspouts. To confirm you entro change shingles and gutters from what is already on the property?

Response: Please see Paragraph 6 of the Revised Statement of Work. The Government requires architectural shingles and aluminum gutters and downspouts for this project work.

Materials purchased directly by the Government are supplies, not construction material.

Cost of components means—
