The document details specific logistics for fire extinguisher delivery, placement, and disposal, including: contractors shall ship certified fire extinguishers to the site, Reclamation personnel will unpack and place new extinguishers throughout the facility, and the contractor will have two weeks to retrieve old extinguishers after notification. The project allows for storing and recycling of old Halotron and ABC fire extinguishers, provided that storage complies with NFPA and environmental regulations. Vendor Question and Answers List

1. Will the Glen Canyon Field Division allow us to ship the fire extinguishers directly to the project location so our technician can perform the annual tagging and inspection process on-site prior to putting the new extinguishers into service?

Yes, the Contractor shall ship all certified fire extinguishers to the site stated in the solicitation. Reclamation will unpack and dispose of all packaging and place the new certified fire extinguishers throughout the facility. Once all new fire extinguishers have been placed, the Contractor will be notified that the old extinguishers are ready for pickup or shipping. Reclamation will prepare old fire extinguishers for pickup. The Contractor will have two weeks from the date of notification to retrieve the old extinguishers.

2. Can delivery and certification of new units occur concurrently with pickup of old units?

Or will two trips be required?

As stated above, it is the Government’s intent to place all certified fire extinguishers throughout the facility first. As this placement occurs, the old extinguishers will be brought to the Warehouse. The Contractor may then pick up the old extinguishers or arrange for their shipment. Therefore, two separate trips may be required—one for delivery of the new units and a second for the pickup of the old units once they have been consolidated at the Warehouse.

3. Will existing units be gathered in one central location? If not will gathering existing units and distribution of new units be performed by personnel of Glen Canyon Dam or by the contractor?

The Contractor is not responsible for placing or gathering fire extinguishers. All used fire extinguishers will be collected by Reclamation personnel and taken to the Warehouse for pickup, which is the same as the delivery address. The Warehouse address and business hours are provided in the solicitation specifications.

4. Will the storage of existing Halotron units being replaced at our warehouse for future use satisfy disposal requirements?

Contractors must provide proof of storing the old Halotron extinguisher does not violate any NFPA or environmental regulations for future use, this will satisfy our requirements.

5. Will discharge of ABC units and storage of dry chemical at our warehouse for future use and recycling of shell and head satisfy disposal requirements?

Yes, discharging ABC fire extinguishers and storing the dry chemical at your warehouse for future use—along with recycling the shell and head—can satisfy disposal requirements, provided that NFPA and environmental regulations are not violated.

To Satisfy the Solicitation’s Disposal Requirement You should provide:

• Supporting documentation such as:

6. Will weatherproof annual certification tags be required?
