About this file

This document contains questions and answers regarding solicitation number 140R3023Q0061 from the Department of the Interior Bureau of Reclamation for an insulated metal roof and wall liners. The solicitation requests quotes for 4-inch insulated metal panels for the roof and 2-inch panels for the walls of a 170-foot tall building. It seeks pricing for panels from either Kingspan Insulated Panels or All Weather Insulated Panels including necessary fasteners, closures, and trim. The answer clarifies that the roof will be fastened to a single purlin running midway along the building, with additional purlins potentially added if needed off the purlin. The trim will be a 4-inch metal strip around the roof edges to cover exposed insulation material.

140R3023Q0061 Questions Question 1: The package is missing a building elevation along with what the framing substrate is we are attaching the insulated panels too. We can quote the square footage of the 4” IMP roof and the 2” IMP walls. As for the required fasteners, closures and trim are unclear. We represent both Kingspan Insulated Panels and All Weather Insulated Panels……….a sister company. We can quote both manufactured panels, fasteners, and trim complete with the requested information.

Answer 1: The photo attached shows the one purlin that is placed midway from North to South (side to side) of the building. This is assumed to be where the panels will be fastened to. No other purlins are required for the roof install. If fasteners are needed where the purlin is not, then additional purlins may be added, if required. For the trim, this is basically a 4” metal strip that wraps around the sides of the roof that covers any exposed insulation material (Styrofoam?). Elevation is 170 feet.
