About this file

This is an Order issued by the Klamath County Board of Commissioners declaring Klamath County a Weed Control District and designating noxious weeds for the calendar year 2025. The order, issued on January 7, 2025, identifies 52 weed species across three control categories established under Oregon Revised Statute 569.360.

The document designates 29 "A" weeds subject to intensive control when found, including buffalobur, black henbane, common bugloss, diffuse knapweed, dyer's woad, flowering rush, japanese knotweed, purple loosestrife, russian knapweed, rush skeletonweed, and yellow star thistle, among others. The order identifies 17 "B" weeds that are abundant in some county areas but have limited distribution elsewhere, with control levels determined case-by-case and biological control as the primary approach when applicable; these include canada thistle, dalmatian toadflax, hoary cress, leafy spurge, medusahead rye, musk thistle, poison hemlock, and spotted knapweed. The order also designates six "C" weeds of possible economic importance that are abundant in most county areas, where control is encouraged but determined by individual landowners; these include bull thistle, common mullein, creeping buttercup, oxeye daisy, scentless false mayweed, and western waterhemlock. The order was approved by all three county commissioners and became effective January 7, 2025.
