Q1: What do you want us to do with the root wads?
A1: They are to be chipped.
Q2: Will there be opportunities to modify the contract timelines if there is inclement weather?
A2: If inclement weather causes site conditions to be unworkable then we could discuss the options. We have worked with contractors in the past due to unfavorable field conditions that make it unsafe to perform the work.
Q3: Along with the removal and disposal of the above ground irrigation lines, do we want the below ground irrigation piping removed as well.
A3: Underground pipes should be left in place. If underground pipes are exposed during the tree removal/chipping the exposed section of pipe should be pulled/removed to create a safe environment.
Q4: Do we want them to remove the pumps?
A4: No, we do not want them to remove the pumps.
Q5: What are the allowable work hours?
A5: Daylight hours M-F.
Q6: Can we work weekends?
A6: Yes.
Q7: Do we want the trees ground or chipped?
A7: They are to be chipped.
Q8: Do we want the undergrowth removed?
A8: Yes, all undergrowth should be removed as well.
Q9: Do we want the chips in piles or can they be spread out?
A9: We want them in piles.
Q10: Who is responsible for maintaining the roads going into and out of the project sites?
A10: The contractor will need to put the road back to the original condition or better.
Q11: What are the total number of trees to be removed?
A11: Specific number of trees have not been counted.
Q12: Do we want the holes from where the root wads were to be backfilled?
A12: Yes, we want the holes to be leveled out as to not leave uneven surfaces which could be hazardous.
Q13: Do we want the area where the trees are removed to be compacted?
A13: No
Q14: Would it be permissible to bring in onsite equipment storage and lighting so that equipment could be stored on site? This could also include an overnight security guard.
A14: Yes. Contractor can store equipment on site and bring necessary storage items. Reclamation will not supply electricity, water or restrooms. Contractor will be responsible for all materials and security of the equipment.
Q15: What are the requirements for dust abatement?
A15: Contractor would need to comply with State and County requirements.
Q16: Is a bid bond required?
A16: No.
Q17: Would we prefer wheeled or tracked equipment?
A17: No preference. As long as the ground is leveled out as to not leave uneven surfaces which could be hazardous.
Q18: Would we allow fuel tanks to be placed onsite, or what are the options for onsite refueling?
A18: Contractor can store a fueling tank on site provided they meet all local requirements and provide a spill plan.
Q19: What are the weight limits for heavy equipment crossing the canals on the way to the properties?
A19: The bridge is not “officially” rated. The bridge has held around 80,000 pounds on it during harvest, which is approximately 35 tons. There are long arm excavators and chippers that are under that weight limit.
