The scope of work does not include replacement or installation of gates, but only the existing chain link fencing on gates. 140PS124Q0027 ROCK CREEK PARK – CARTER BARRON AMPHITHEATRE FENCE
REPLACEMENT
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
1Q. Please confirm if the project scope includes the replacement or installation of gates as part of the perimeter fencing. If so, please provide details on the type and number of gates required and whether sliding gates are specified.
A. No gate replacement is anticipated. Only the existing chain link fencing on gates is to be replaced. The sliding gate has a metal mesh that is not to be replaced.
2Q. The scope includes the removal of hazardous trees and vegetation. Are there any particular areas of concern or environmental conditions that we should be aware of?
A. There are several bushes on the south perimeter fence line that will need to be preserved.
These will be marked by the park's Botanist; their preservation should not interfere with fence installation.
3Q. Will there be any utility lines or infrastructure near the fence line that we need to be mindful of during the installation process?
A. There are old lighting fixtures located within the perimeter of the facility, near the fence line. All associated electrical lines are buried and should not interfere with any fence work.
4Q. Could you please provide the dimensions of the fence posts that will be used for the new installation? Are there specific materials or sizes that need to be adhered to?
A. The contract calls for using existing posts unless they require replacement. If the posts need to be replaced, the contractor would measure the existing galvanized post size/diameter and replace the post in kind.
5Q. Will the new fence include a top rail as part of its design? If so, could the government provide specifications related to this?
A. A top rail exists already.
6Q. Does the chain fence behind the main fence need to be taken down and removed?
A. No, the secondary fence will remain in place
7Q. Does the existing gate leading to the side entrance need to be replaced?
A. No gate replacement is needed. Only the existing chain link fencing on gates is to be replaced.
8Q. Are the trees that are supposed to be removed, need to be cut down to the stump or does the stump need to be removed as well?
A. The trees to be removed can be cut down to the stump. No stump removal is necessary.
