SITE VISIT SUMMARY:
A pre-proposal site visit was conducted on June 4, 2024. Participants met at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) at Lassen Volcanic National Park (LAVO) Headquarters area. Headquarters for LAVO is located approximately 40 miles east of Red Bluff California and 30 miles west of Chester, CA on state Hwy 36. The initial meeting spot was at the parking lot of LAVO's main HQ building. Introductions were made between NPS staff and attendees, sign in sheets filled out, and site visit question sheets were passed out to all. Prior to visiting to the site, Buildings/Utilities Supervisor and project COR Preston Marfuta gave instructions on proper protocol for RFI’s post visit and how questions would be answered during the visit. Afterwards, site visit attendees followed Preston Marfuta and Water Treatment Operator Stephen Cole to the parking area around the treatment building, the project scope was reviewed, and the site visit attendees were given an opportunity to ask any initial questions. A walk up to the existing tanks was made along the access route so that all had the chance to observe site conditions and access route. Once at the top and at the site, the existing tank and any visible appurtenances were viewed. The site visit concluded at approximately 12:00 Noon.
PROJECT QUESTIONS FROM SITE VISIT:
1. Question: What do we do with excavation soil? Answer: See Specification Section 31 10 10 – 2 SITE CLEARING, Stockpile topsoil where directed by Park Staff. Stockpile onsite for use for backfilling. As per specifications, cover to prevent erosion and loss.
2. Question: What is the consistency of finished soil? Answer: See Specification Section 31 22 00: 3.2/A-C Loosen top 2 inches, remove anything over 2 inches. 3.3/C- Make finished surface free of stones, sticks or other material 1 inch or more in any dimension.
3. Question: What to do with Hazard trees outside the footprint of worksite and drawings?
