Questions and Answers
1 - Being that this is a historical house that has lead paint on it and it is occupied, the EPA requires whomever is doing the work to be RRP certified. Do EPA standards still apply to Federal Government properties? I only ask because in Part 1 - General, Section F of the Project Specifications packet it states "Contractor shall follow all codes and guidelines for lead in construction and dispose of all contaminated wastes in a legal manner" but doesn't mention the EPA RRP rule as mandatory even though the residence is occupied.
Answer: Yes this applies. We and our contractors are required to follow all applicable standards and codes including the RRP rule.
2 - How would NPS like the painting requirements to be addressed where there is currently vegetation against the building at the front porch?
Answer: Prior to the notice to proceed, NPS will remove the vegetation that is vining up the corner of the house adjacent to the porch. The rose vines that wrap around the porch supports will be trimmed to the height of the top of the porch support posts. Painting of the porch supports will need to be conducted around and avoiding damage to the rose vines.
