Questions and Answers
1. Is there a designated landing areas for us to sort and merchandise the trees before they are removed from the park?
Answer: Yes No
Park officials originally provided staging areas for decking logs and tree slash. It had been determined that original plans from felling operations in 2023 will not be concluded by the end of April 2024 as anticipated. With this, the identified tree deck will no longer be available. Officials have also determined that since the campgrounds are not open until May 25th, 2024, the awarded contractor can process materials on site and stage tree boles cut to length and tree slash alongside the campground loops so long as they do not obstruct vehicle passage through each loop. This will also save the awarded contractor much needed time to assure logging efforts are concluded and tree boles and slash are removed by May 24th, 2024.
2. How much time does the individual that holds the certified arborist certificate need to be on sight? once during the pre-work planning, once daily or all day every day?
Answer: This requirement has been removed from the Statement of Work.
3. The areas noted in the solicitation seem to be just in the immediate campgrounds, correct?
Answer: Yes, Campgrounds A, B, C, and D. My thought is that any tree that could potentially hit a campsite or facility or road would be marked.
4. What if we see trees that are dead and within the area for solicitation but not noted within the solicitation, would the park want that identified and quoted within this bid period.
Answer: Yes, but the park would want to see those trees identified and where they stand to make our own determination for removal.
5. The period identified in the solicitation is a short period, is that to get things rapped up before the campgrounds open?
Answer: Yes, the goal is to have these operations completed before Memorial Day Weekend when the Campgrounds open.
6. Will the campgrounds be occupied during logging operations?
Answer: No. Contractors can simply process each tree and leave alongside the road staged for removal within each loop. Trees can be cut to manageable lengths as well as slash for removal efforts later.
