About this file

This document contains questions and answers regarding Solicitation Number 140P8423Q0104 from the National Park Service to supply and deliver specified boulders to Whiskeytown National Recreation Area. The vendor must deliver Mule Mountain stock boulders with at least two flat, parallel sides for stacking between the time of award and December 30, 2023. The vendor is responsible for supplying the boulders, legally delivering them, and safely unloading them at the designated sites without any government-furnished equipment or labor. While the park can receive continuous deliveries, the vendor must schedule with the Contracting Officer or Representative. Granite with flat sides is generally suitable for walls, but the specifications explicitly require Mule Mountain stock composition.

Supply and Deliver Specified Boulders

Questions and Answers

1) When would you require delivery?

a. The delivery dates shall commence and be completed between the Time of

Award and December 30, 2023.

2) Could I send over 2 quotes, one with a shorter delivery schedule price and one with a longer delivery schedule price?

a. The park can receive the delivery in continuous sustained loads and does not require incremental delivery upon request, but the vendor must schedule delivery with the Contracting Officer (CO) or Contracting Officer's

Representative (COR) prior.

3) Is there a crane on site? (for larger boulders)

a. The vendor is responsible for delivering and unloading the specified boulders at the designated locations, so they should be prepared to provide the necessary equipment for unloading. No government-furnished property or labor will be provided.

4) Is it okay to dump or will it need to be set?

a. The solicitation is for the requisition of specified materials only. No additional services, such as placement of the boulders, are requested. The vendor is responsible for the supply, legal delivery, and safe unloading of materials at the specified sites, as per the outlined objectives.

5) The type of rock that will be most available/cost effective will be granite. They have flat sides and are usually ideal to make walls out of. Will that rock work for you or do you have a specific rock required?

a. The specifications explicitly require that the rocks be of Mule Mountain stock with at least 2 flat, parallel sides for stacking. The Mule Mountain stock, which is found locally west of Redding, California, is mainly composed of highly altered and deeply weathered trondhjemite and albite granite, as well as a small area of partly altered and unweathered hornblende quartz diorite. Therefore, the type of granite being considered must meet these requirements.
